I’m Rylan (they/he), owner and main photographer of Rylan Lott Photography, LLC. I’ve been photographing for many years which started mainly as a way to document travel and everyday life for myself and friends, but once I photographed my first wedding, I was hooked. The more weddings I do, the more I learn about people, cultures, relationships and life which is something that is incredibly special to me. I’m honored that people invite me into such special parts of their lives, and they get to see themselves in authentic ways, and sometimes in ways they didn’t think they were able to before.
As an educator, and openly queer and trans photographer, I am so thankful to have the privilege of advocating for and affirming others in the LGBTQ+ community, especially through photography. When my wife and I were planning our wedding we ran into a lot of cis-het normative planning and had to piece together or DIY our ceremony and some other details of our wedding to work better for us. I’m passionate about my advocacy, and hope to help make the industry much more inclusive for all.
I’ve been married to my wife for six years and we currently live with our two dogs and cat. We work and pay the bills, but they graciously let us use the amenities here. We actually got married a few months before the pandemic and before I came out as trans; so we have grown a lot together and individually through our relationship.
With all my clients, I like to have a mixed photojournalistic approach; I can help guide you and pose you, but I encourage you to continue to interact with those around you. I aim to document true moments that are happening while making you feel more at east and authentic. Some of my favorites have been catching people crying with joy, showing off on the dance floor, and even food fights because it ties together the story of the time spent together.
If you have booked a package with a second photographer to work with us during our time together, they will also be vetted by me to make sure they are just as reliable and affirming as I am. I want to make sure there are no questions about the quality of work or professionalism during your day!
I do not limit my work to weddings, and provide a wide array of photographic services, it is important to me to be able to connect with people over various milestones in their life, and be able to provide wonderful documentation of that for them. For the past 3 years I have also been a sponsor and official photographer for Haddon Township Pride.
